Functional appliances are used during the growth period to influence the relationship between the upper and lower jaw. They help correct some bite problems related to jaw development.
The type of appliance and the right time to start are decided by the EM Smile Clinic team after an orthodontic assessment. Functional treatment is often a first phase, followed later by fixed braces or Nuvola aligners.
